Fleet Murdaugh Carney Morgan, 100 years of age, passed away on July 15, 2017. Mrs. Morgan was born in the Churchland section of Norfolk County, Virginia, and resided in Portsmouth, VA. She was the daughter of the late Anna Fleet Murdaugh Carney Freeman and Wright Bruce Carney, Jr. She was the stepdaughter of the late Vice-Admiral Charles Seymour Freeman.
Mrs. Morgan was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Everett Morgan and her brother, Wright Bruce Carney, III.
She attended Mary Washington University, Fredericksburg, VA. She was a court reporter at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth, VA. For most of her life, she was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. She loved her church; it was an important part of her life.
She was an active member of the Fort Nelson Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames of Virginia, the Elizabeth River Garden Club, the Portsmouth Service League, the Town Point Club of Norfolk and an associate member of the Portsmouth Assembly.
She is survived by a son, Ronald E. Morgan and his wife, Sandra McLauchlin Morgan of Chesapeake; three grandchildren, Bradford D. Morgan, Suzanne Keene, and Shannon Brett and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held in Trinity Episcopal Church at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 20, 2017.
The family will receive friends at a reception in the Trinity Episcopal Church Parish Hall following the service. Burial will be in Churchland Baptist Church Cemetery.
