– Ernestine Williams Nix, 91, formerly of Portsmouth, passed away July 4, 2013.

Mrs. Nix, a native of Durham, N.C., was a member of Cradock Baptist Church, Cradock Women's Club, Cradock Music Club, and Joie de Vivre Book Club, Virginia Beach.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 72 years, Bryant G. Nix; three children, Ernestine "Teena" Wise, Bryant G. Nix, Jr., and Karen N. Grauzlis (Robert J.); grandchildren, Erin Bracy (Michael), Teena Anderson (Bob), Bryant G. "Trell" Nix III, Claude E. Nix II (Megan), Russell C. Nix, Nancy G. Behram (Steve), Robert J. Grauzlis, Jr., Meghan M. Grauzlis; and 9 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a special cousin, Jeune Grum man, numerous nieces and nephews, her nurse, Sydney Brooks, and a longtime special friend, Ann Eastes. She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Michael Wise, and two grandchildren, David W. Grauzlis and Kendall L. Grauzlis.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 8 at Cradock Baptist Church, 96 Afton Parkway, Portsmouth. Following the service, a reception will be held in the church social hall. Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth, is assisting the family.
