Elizabeth "Betty" Pond, 90, passed away peacefully in her home, with her family present, after a long illness on June 29, 2016. She was born to Mary and John DeMello in South Dartmouth, Mass.
She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, George Pond; daughter, Bettina Kusiak and husband John of Roanoke, Va.; sons, George Pond and wife Dianne of Windsor, Va., and David Pond and wife Michelle of Ringgold, Ga. She has six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; and her beloved cat, Katie.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, at Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth.
A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church, Portsmouth, at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016 with interment following at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Suffolk. In lieu of flowers, you can make a donation in her honor to the Oasis Soup Kitchen, 800 Williamsburg Ave., Portsmouth, VA 23704, as she volunteered there for many years and believed in their service to others.
