Mrs. Elizabeth Irene (Tipton) Writesel went to be with the Lord on Valentine's Day. She is predeceased by her husband, James Frederick Writesel, Sr.
She is survived by her five children and spouses, Martha and Johnny Forrester, Joanne and David Gray, Barbara and Kenny Barlow, Mary Louise Writesel, and James F. and Donna Writesel; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Gray, John Forrester, Jr., Sarah Gray Lamountain, Jennifer Forrester, Kendall Leigh Marie Barlow, Kyle Barlow and Tyler James Writesel) and 13 great grandchildren.
She was an active member of the Esther Class at Port Norfolk Baptist Church where she cherished and loved her friends dearly. She was a retired child care provider taking care of over 150 children during her career. All of her kids knew her as "Nanny Writesel".
The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at B.W. Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth.
A private family burial will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017 followed by a celebration of life at 12:00 p.m. at Port Norfolk Baptist Church located at 401 Broad Street in Port Norfolk by Pastor Terry Taylor. A reception will immediately follow in the Fellowship Hall.
