Elizabeth "Betty" Mae Bunch, 82, died May 17, 2016, with her family by her side.
Betty was the widow of Donald Bunch, her husband of 51 years, and daughter of the late Donald and Alma Hodges Mosher. She was predeceased by a son, Steven D. Bunch, and her youngest brother, Greg K. Mosher.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra C. Stewart and husband Larry; son, Michael D. Bunch and wife Pam; son, Don W. Bunch and wife Cindy; sister, Shirley L. Mosher; brother, Donald G. Mosher, Jr. and wife Mary Lou; brother, James A. Mosher and wife Peggy; 7 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Betty was born March 8, 1934, in Syracuse, New York.
She worked as a Personnel Supervisor at the Public Works department of the Norfolk Naval Shipyard from 1967 until her retirement in 1993. She was a lifetime member of the Church of the Resurrection. She was an active member in the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 9382, Suffolk, Va. She was a breast cancer survivor, and helped to raise funds for cancer research.
She loved nature and enjoyed gardening and birdwatching. She loved reading, especially mystery novels. She had many friends, who considered themselves members of her family and often gathered at her table.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Baker-Foster Funeral Home, 5685 Lee Farm Lane, Suffolk, VA. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday May 23, at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Resurrection, 3501 Cedar Lane, Portsmouth, VA. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
