PORTSMOUTH—Eileen Marie Erickson James (MomMom) passed away December 5, 2021 at the age of 99. She was born on March 17, 1922 in Marinette, WI to the late Roy Wilford Erickson and Sigrid Hansen Erickson. She served in the WAVES during WWII.

In addition to her parents, Eileen was predeceased by her son, Richard Roy Sawyer, and her son-in-law, Michael Anderson Perkins. She is survived by her husband, Langley Earl James; children Margaret Sawyer Perkins, Calvin Boyd James, and Charles Macy James; grandchildren Michael Anderson "Andy" Perkins, Jr., Anna Elizabeth Sawyer Young (Stephen), Daniel Edward Sawyer, Mary Rebekah James Bortot (Zachary); and great-grandchildren Daniel Edward Sawyer, Jr., Emma Elizabeth Young, and Adam Langley Young.

The family would like to thank Shauna and her team at Maryview Hospice and the staff at Maryview Nursing Center for their compassionate care.

A Requiem Eucharist will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church, 424 Washington St., Portsmouth, VA 23704 on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 1:00 pm. The service will be followed by burial in the Memorial Garden and a reception in Chisholm Hall. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church.
