NORFOLK—Edward Linscott Oast III, 67, of Norfolk, Virginia, died peacefully on December 5, 2025 from complications of strokes suffered two years ago. He handled a wretched illness with incredible grace.
Edward was born in Portsmouth, VA to the late Jean and Ed Oast. He graduated Norfolk Academy in 1977 and VMI in 1981. After a successful banking career, he and his wife Stewart owned and operated a small business in Norfolk.
Edward is survived by his wife Stewart; his daughter McKenzie Lazar (Dale); his son Edward IV (Michelle); three precious granddaughters: Roma Jean, Mirabelle, and Frances. He also leaves behind his twin sister Carolyn Oast; sister Elizabeth O. McCombs and her children, Carolyn and Bricken.
Ed is also survived by his VMI "brothers" who visited weekly for two years, and the loving and compassionate staff at Lake Taylor Rehabilitation Hospital, who brightened his days.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 18, at Churchland Baptist Church, 3031 Churchland Blvd., Chesapeake, with a reception to follow. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to Lake Taylor Employee Fund, 1309 Kempsville Rd., Norfolk, VA 23502; Churchland Baptist Church, 3031 Churchland Blvd., Chesapeake, VA 23321; or VMI Alumni Association, P.O.
