Dorothy Wagner Benzie, 81, passed away October 6, 2013.

Mrs. Benzie was born in Dearborn, Michigan, the daughter of the late Walter Paul and Mollie Frances Woolery Wagner. After a long and distinguished career, Dorothy was retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. She was a past member of Trinity Episcopal Church, the UVA Student Aid Foundation, and the North Siesta Gardens Garden Club. She was predeceased in 2011 by her husband of 60 years, James G. Benzie.

She is survived by her son, James Christopher Benzie and daughter-in-law, DiAne L. Benzie; grandson, Paul James Benzie; brother-in-law, Jack Benzie; and sister-in-law, Rachel Benzie.

Friends may join the family from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9 at Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth. A graveside funeral will be held at 12 noon Thursday, Oct. 10 at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Road, Suffolk, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bon Secours Hospice, 1485 Rodman Avenue, Portsmouth, VA 23707.
