PORTSMOUTH—Donald Anthony Frenia, 90, passed away June 27, 2022. He was born in Peru, NY to the late Raymond and Genevieve McKee Frenia.

Don was an active member of Church of the Resurrection since its founding and also volunteered at Oasis Social Ministry for many years. He was an Industrial Engineer and had a long and distinguished career with General Electric, retiring after 34 years. After G.E. he worked for Newport News, Inc for another 8 years. He loved traveling with his wife, Shirley, tennis, horseback riding, camping, hunting, fishing, golfing with his senior league buddies, and was a very talented woodworker. His family cherishes the many pieces of furniture he made for them throughout the years.

In addition to his parents, Don is predeceased by his son, Mark Frenia, and a brother, Vernon Frenia. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Shirley; three children: Michelle Ryan (Michael), Michael Frenia (Tracy), and Martie Frenia (Debbie); his brother, Floyd Frenia (Sandy); 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Don will live on in all the heartfelt memories of his family who knew him as a loving husband, brother, father, and a very special "Papa".

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, at Church of the Resurrection, 3501 Cedar Ln., Portsmouth.
