PORTSMOUTH—David Michael Grimsley, 69, passed away August 15, 2021. He was born in Portsmouth to the late James and Amanda Howard Grimsley.

David was a tugboat captain for 22 years, then worked as a dispatcher for Vulcan Materials for 24 years, until his retirement.

In addition to his parents, David is predeceased by his son, Michael D. Grimsley. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Dianne; his son, Jay T. Grimsley (Kristy); his daughter, Amy Anderson; 5 grandchildren: Jacob and Brandon Anderson and Victoria, Patrick, and Morgan Grimsley; and his beloved furbaby, Myla.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, August 20, at Foster Funeral Home, 1926 High St., Portsmouth, followed immediately by the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Portsmouth Humane Society. Condolences may be registered at BWFosterFuneralHome.com.
