CHESAPEAKE—Dale Combs, 87, passed away July 8, 2025. He was born in Laurel, Indiana to the late Wade W. Combs and Bessie A. Combs.

He entered the United States Navy in 1956 active duty as a nursing/first aid operating room technician. He served 6 years in active duty and 17 years as a Navy reservist. Dale also worked at Davis Grain Corporation and Norfolk Southern for 30 years until retirement. He enjoyed reading, walking the neighborhood, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchild.

Dale was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Rebecca Combs, and his 12 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his sons Kevin Combs (Christina) and Keith Combs; a brother-in-law Lawrence "Dickie" Oliver, Jr.; two grandchildren, Eric Combs (Sarah) and Kellie Combs; one great-grandchild, McKenna Rae; and many other extended family members. He will be dearly missed.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, July 14th, at Foster Funeral Home, 1926 High St., Portsmouth. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday July 15th, at Foster Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Green Lawn Memorial Gardens in Chesapeake.
