Conrad Joseph Reisinger, Sr., 75, of Suffolk, Virginia, passed away on June 1, 2026, with the comfort of his wife by his side. Born on August 10, 1950, in St. Paul, Minnesota, Conrad was the eldest child of Wilfred and Eleanore Reisinger.
Conrad joined the United States Marine Corps in 1970, serving as a helicopter door gunner in Vietnam, where he earned the Air Medal. He later served in the prestigious Presidential Helicopter Squadron (HMX‑1). After his military service, he earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland, College Park, and went on to work as a design engineer supporting the U.S. Navy. His career included notable roles with the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Maryland, and Rosenblatt & Associates in Newport News, Virginia.
Dedicated to service throughout his life, Conrad was a past commander of both the Hampton Roads Power Squadron and the Yorktown Detachment of the Marine Corps League. He also served his community as an EMT and ambulance driver with Smithfield Fire and Rescue. A man of deep faith, he was an active member of St. Paul Catholic Church. In retirement, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and traveling.
Conrad is survived by his wife, Susan; his children, Conrad, Jr. and Candee (Jason); and his grandchildren, Conrad III, Juliet, Cameron, Madelyn, and Jason, Jr. He is also survived by his mother, Eleanore; his sister, Madonna; and his brothers, Christopher and Joseph (Kim). He was preceded in death by his daughter, Crystal; his father, Wilfred; and his brother, Michael.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 10, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 522 High St, Portsmouth, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Military honors will follow the Mass. There will be a reception afterwards at Church of the Resurrection, 3501 Cedar Ln., Portsmouth.
Interment will take place at a later date at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Condolences may be registered at BWFosterFuneralHome.com.
