Clarence F. Brown, Jr., 77, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2016. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Linda "Cookie" Brown; and his son, Winston Brown and wife Beth of Fork Union, Va. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Jonah, Peter, Alex and Brandon; and a sister, Donna L. Dubs.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, Clarence was a graduate of Wilson High School and Christopher Newport University. He was an educator for thirty years, teaching first at Court Street Academy and then for 20 years in the Portsmouth Public Schools. Clarence was a distinguished coach of both Track and Cross Country, guiding his teams to several championships.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will take place at Green Acres Presbyterian Church, 3135 Hanley Ave., Portsmouth on Friday at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations in his honor be sent to Louisa Little League, PO Box 2182, Louisa, VA 23903, where his youngest grandson Johan will be tearing us the base paths this spring.
