Obituary

PORTSMOUTH – Charlotte Heywood Morris McGehee, 88, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday November 22, 2014. A native of Portsmouth, she was the daughter of the late Edwin Loyall and Sarah (Sally) Williams Morris and was predeceased by her husband E.G. McGehee, Jr. and sister, Mary Louise Morris Miller.

She was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School Class of 1944, charter member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church, where she served on the altar guild and sang in the choir and also attended St. Andrew Lutheran Church. An avid mahjong player, she enjoyed many hours with different groups, especially her beloved "Mahjong Ladies," and some of her favorite activities include her bi-annual trips to the Outer Banks with the 'Beach Girls" and their theme parties. She was the bookkeeper at Elizabeth Manor Golf and Country Club for 23 years.

Left to cherish her memory are her five children, E. Garrett McGehee, III (Kathryn), Betsy L. McGehee, Cindy M. Seidman (Ron), Sarah M. Battalio (Mike), John L. McGehee, Sr. (Beth); brother, Edwin L. Morris, Jr. (Esther); eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and beloved nieces and nephews, as well as lifelong friends and neighbors.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday November 30, 2014 in B.W. Foster Funeral Home, 1926 High Street, Portsmouth. In lieu of flowers you may make a memorial donation to the Bon Secours Hospice or charity of your choice. Condolences may be registered at bwfosterfuneralhome.com.
