Carrie Darlene Culpepper, 84, passed away on November 5, 2015. Mrs. Culpepper was the daughter of the late James and Willena Summerville. She retired from the Planning Department of Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 20 years of service.
Survivors include her daughter, Colleen Crawford; two sons, Jimmy Culpepper and wife Cathy and Jeff Culpepper and wife Terry; grandchildren, Jason Culpepper, Mark Crawford, Wayne Culpepper and wife Elizabeth, Jill Branch and husband Matthew, and Casey Hicks and husband Gregory, Amanda Russell and husband Red and Bud Osborn; great-grandsons Christian, Colin and Aaron and great-granddaughters Lily and Ellie. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Jim Culpepper, her son Wayne Culpepper, a beloved grandson Kenny MacKenzie, three sisters (Elsby Tucker, Myrna Dodge, and Shirley Maudlin), and four brothers (George, James, Robert, and Hugh Summerville).
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, November 9th from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Burial will be private.
