VIRGINIA BEACH- Bryant Gartrell Nix, Jr., 68, died peacefully in his home on January 7, 2018. He was born in Portsmouth to the late Bryant G. Nix, Sr. and Ernestine Williams Nix. He was a longtime native of Portsmouth.

Bryant was the vice president of C. E. Nix & Son Fuel Oil Company. He is survived by his sons, Bryant "Trell" Nix, III, of Raleigh, NC, Claude Elmo Nix, II and wife Megan of Ivor, VA, and Russell "Rusty" Carlson Nix and Ilana Anderson of Chesapeake; sisters Ernestine "Teena" N. Wise of Portsmouth and Karen N. Grauzlis and husband Bob of Virginia Beach; and grandchildren Evelyn G. Nix and Cordelia E. Nix.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 12, at Foster Funeral Home, 1926 High St., Portsmouth, immediately followed by burial at Olive Branch Cemetery, 2 Cpl. J. M.
