Benjamin "Benny" Ray Hoofnagle passed away at home on January 17, 2026. He was born in Portsmouth, VA to Paul and Hyacinth Hoofnagle on December 30, 1952.

Benny served in the US Air Force from 1971-1975. He then went on to work in the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as an electrician. His second career was defense contracting, where he made many good friends.

In addition to his parents, Benny was predeceased by his brothers, Paul and David. He was a dedicated husband to Gail for 45 years and a loving father to their son Paul. His memory will be cherished by his mother-in-law Grace and his in-laws Glenn, Brad, and Sherry. He will be forever missed by his loving family and friends.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 23, at Foster Funeral Home, 1926 High St., Portsmouth. The family will receive friends an hour prior. Officiating will be Rev. Boyce Porter.
