PORTSMOUTH—Barbara Hilliard, 83, passed peacefully to be with our Lord on August 18, 2023. She was born September 25, 1939 in Lyndora, PA, to the late Steven Bachura and Nelle A. Smith.

Barb, as she was affectionately called, was known as Bubzie to her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a very kind and caring great-grandmother, grandmother, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.

Barb was a successful retired secretary for various engineering associations and firms. She also worked part time as a realtor and property manager for condominiums in Fort Myers, FL where she resided for many years. She was a member of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed golfing, competitive trivia, and cheering for the Steelers.

With her amazing, brave spirit she was a two-time breast cancer survivor, inspiring us all. During her last days with us, she was cared for by her daughter Laura MacIntyre. She was loved by everyone; never a bad word said.

Those left to cherish her memory include her brothers, Richard A. Bachura, Donald S. Bachura and sister Elaine Ann Maker; children Laura L. MacIntyre, Matthew S. Mahalik, and Mark S. Mahalik; grandchildren Elizabeth, Jacob, Jesse, and Noah; great-grandchildren Alejandro, Armando, Luca, and Callum; and a host of family and friends. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of everyone she interacted with. Barbara, gone but not forgotten, a beautiful soul that will shine on.

A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 26, at The Well Coffeehouse, 4351 Portsmouth Blvd., Portsmouth, VA  23701.
