VIRGINIA BEACH - Barbara Anne Foster, 86, passed away peacefully on August 16th, 2024, surrounded by family.  She was born in High Point, NC, to the late Norwood and Mary Farlow Groce.

Anne attended Churchland High School and married the late Donald Patrick Foster in 1957. They moved to Virginia Beach in 1969 as one of the first families in the Lago Mar neighborhood, where she raised her family, volunteered at the church, and taught piano to neighborhood children.

A passionate advocate for the arts, Anne dedicated her time and talents as the Executive Director of Young Audiences of Virginia.  She leaves behind a legacy of faith, wisdom, and a love for the arts and education.

In addition to her parents, Anne is predeceased by her husband Donald Foster, her daughter Suzanne, and her son Timothy.  She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Mueller (Ben); sons Michael Foster (Vicki) and Richard Foster (Janis); her grandchildren JC Cox, Mary O'Brien Gossage, Taylor Waltrip, Alexandra Foster, Jessica Anne Foster, and Cole Foster; her great-grandchildren Kenly Aileen and Sophia Anne Waltrip; brothers Roger and Steve Groce; and sister-in-law Patricia (Pat) Alberti.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:00am, Friday October 18th at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Virginia Beach.  A private interment will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Portsmouth, at a later date.
