Barbara Ann Richardson Brittingham, 69, passed away October 26, 2015.
A native of Portsmouth, Mrs. Brittingham was the daughter of Helen G. Richardson Harrell and the late William S. Richardson. She graduated from Cradock High School and was Valedictorian of her class when graduating from Saint Leo College. She retired as a manager from the N7 Personnel Dept. at the Atlantic Fleet Surface Warfare Command. She was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church, Chesapeake.
Besides her mother, she is survived by her husband of 36 years, Bob Brittingham; three step-children, Heather Farrow and husband Ray, Darrin Brittingham, Adria B. Poindexter and husband Steve; eight grandchildren; one brother, Sonny Richardson and wife Betsy; and extended family and friends. She was predeceased by a son, Timothy Willard Dodge.
A Liturgy of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2, 2015 at St. Therese Catholic Church, 4137 Portsmouth Blvd., Chesapeake, Va. 23321. A reception will follow in the church social hall. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Barbara and Bob were avid boaters, so attendees at the funeral and encouraged to wear casual attire. Please omit flowers and consider a donation in her name to a charity of choice.
