PORTSMOUTH--Audrey Pinchbeck Fisher, age 91, died on February 17, 2021 in Portsmouth, VA. She was the daughter of the late Bernard I Pinchbeck of Blackstone, VA and Myrtle R. Clarke.
Audrey was predeceased by her husband, Elmer L. Fisher; son Clarke Lee Fisher; brother Bernard I. Pinchbeck, Jr.; and special friend Don Burnette. She is survived by a son, Roy H. Fisher of Chesapeake, VA; a granddaughter, Tricia L. Fisher; her sister-in-law Laura Pinchbeck of Lawrenceville, VA; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was a member of Centenary United Methodist in Portsmouth, where she once served as superintendent of Sunday Schools and was a member of the Open Door Sunday Class.
Audrey received her B. S. degree from Madison College and her masters' degree from Old Dominion University. After teaching for thirty-three years, she enjoyed her retirement: playing bridge, traveling, and clubs.
She was a member of the National, State, and Local Education Associations and served as president of the Portsmouth Classroom Teachers' Association, the Portsmouth Education Association, the Portsmouth Retired Teachers Club, and the Alpha Delta Kappa Honorary Teachers' Sorority.
Mrs. Fisher was a charter member of the Castle Heights Garden Club and its president for thirteen years. She served on the Portsmouth Area Council, Tidewater Area of Garden Clubs, and Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs.
Her memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 23, at Centenary United Methodist Church in Portsmouth, with burial of her ashes to follow at Olive Branch Cemetery. A reception to celebrate her life will be held at a later date when social restrictions ease. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Centenary United Methodist Church.
