Ann Marie
Caples
Jan 14, 1939 — Oct 24, 2024
Portsmouth
PORTSMOUTH—Ann Marie Lee Caples, 85, passed away peacefully on the morning of October 24, 2024. She was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, to the late James and Monica Lee.
After marrying her husband of 64 years, Mack Caples, the couple relocated to Portsmouth, Virginia, where Ann, a registered nurse, worked for many years at Maryview. She left there to work in the Portsmouth School System ultimately retiring from the Chesapeake Public School System.
Ann was an avid sports fan. She spent many years on the bleachers at Olive Branch, in the stands at Scope with the Admirals, and always rooting for her beloved UNC and Notre Dame from anywhere.
She was often found serving others, volunteering at PCES; working many concession stand duties at Olive Branch; enjoying many years of service with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus; offering cakes, casseroles and a useful pair of hands for her church and wherever else needed; and lastly, returning to her initial place of employment at Maryview as a volunteer to work their information desk. She was a member of The Church of St Therese.
Ann was a complex and loyal person. Being her spouse, child, grandchild, sister, or friend meant being able to count on her unwavering support. Rest in peace, sister bell.
In addition to her parents, Ann was predeceased by her brother James R. Lee and sisters Patricia Rozzlle and baby Monica Barbara. She is survived by her husband Mack Caples; children Beth Griffin (Gordon), Danny Caples (Jeannie), Mary Kahler (Mark) and Becky Caples; grandchildren Carrie, Valerie (Jeff), Landon (Jessica), Shea (John) and Nash; great-grandchildren (Peyton, Triston, Rhyan, Melody, Brielle, and Renessme); and her sisters Juanita Lee and Charlotte Lee.
The family would like to thank Commonwealth Senior Living at Churchland House, Medi Home Health & Hospice, and every visiting friend who, we know, got an earful. Thank you for being there for our wife, mom and Nawnee.
Per Ann's request, there will be no service, and her ashes will be scattered at her chosen destination at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a charity of your choice. Condolences may be registered at BWFosterFuneralHome.com.
