PORTSMOUTH—Andrew Luke Constantinides, 71, passed away in his home, March 22, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was born on April 26, 1950, to the late Luke and Anna Karaganis Constantinides in Portsmouth. Andy was preceded in death by his brother, George Constantinides.
Andy graduated from Churchland High School in 1968 and went on to graduate from Virginia Tech in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. Andy was an entrepreneur, owning several locations in Portsmouth.
Andy was devoted to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Norfolk, served as a member of AHEPA and the Masonic Lodge, Norfolk #1, AF&AM.
Andy was a devoted husband, father and Papou'. Andy enjoyed time with his family and friends, working out at the gym, and being an Uber driver. Andy loved to cook; his cooking skills were a testament to his mother. He would say, "You no eat, you no grow, you be shrimp rest your life." He enjoyed supporting his baseball boys and was an avid VA Tech fan. His boisterous voice and constant encouragement were beloved by all.
Andy fought a courageous battle against cancer. Andy's strength, courage, and positive attitude were a testament to who he was as a human being. His legacy of kindness, generosity and family ties will last an eternity.
Andy is survived by his wife, Joann; four children, Luke Constantinides (Janna), Matthew Constantinides (Marion), Jessica Turner (Scott), and Autumn Mason (Will); eight grandchildren; a sister, Mary C. Wright; sister-in-law Susan Constantinides; and lifelong best friend Frank Parks.
A Trisagion service will be held 6:00 p.m. Monday, March 28, at Foster Funeral Home, 1926 High St., Portsmouth. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 7220 Granby St., Norfolk. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk.
