PORTSMOUTH-Albert J. "Butch" Resolute, 80, passed away on October 9, 2020. He was the son of Albert J. Resolute, Sr. and Mary Pauline O'Connor Resolute.

Butch is survived by his children, Albert J. Resolute, III (Anne) and Ann Beth Colston (Mark); a brother, James A. Resolute, Sr. (Mary Ann); a sister, Mary Sue Resolute (Victor); as well as three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Butch was a Portsmouth native. He graduated from St. Paul's Catholic High School in 1958. He went on to receive his bachelor's degree at Old Dominion University and master's degree from George Washington University. Butch spent his entire career as a civilian employee for the US Navy.

Butch volunteered many years coaching baseball and football for the Churchland Little League. He traveled the east coast as a participant on the Shag Dancing Circuit. He faithfully served multiple times as the Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus Lodge 418 in Portsmouth.

Butch loved his family, Notre Dame football, bird hunting, the NY Times crossword puzzle, fishing, crabbing, softball, cooking, Knights of Columbus events, shagging, a good joke, and Miller Lite.
