Obituary

VIRGINIA BEACH – A. Gorman Pinkston, Jr., 90, passed away Sunday, July 9th in a local hospital. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jeanne; his 2 daughters, Mary Pinkston and Suzanne Chaney; and 2 sons, David Pinkston and Robert Pinkston. He was predeceased by his son, A.G. "Buddy" Pinkston, III. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Ryan Chaney, Allan Kent, Michael Chaney, Kat Pinkston and 4 great-grandchildren. Mr. Pinkston was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served on the renovation committee to restore St. Paul's Catholic Church in Portsmouth. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. Mr. Pinkston was a former President of NUCA (National Utility Contractors Association) and one of the first members of HRUHCA (Hampton Roads Utility and Heavy Contractors Association). He was proud to have been a big part of bringing the Lake Gaston Pipeline to Hampton Roads. He was also very active for many years prior to his illness in the VA Beach Rescue Squad as a paramedic. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, July 19th at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 1968 Sandbridge Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23456. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Princess Anne Courthouse Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 344, Virginia Beach, VA 23456. Condolences may be registered at www.bwfosterfuneralhome.com.
